What is burton foods?

Burton Foods was a UK-based snack food manufacturing company that produced a wide range of products, including biscuits, cakes, pastries, and savory snacks. The company was established in 1935 by George Burton in Blackpool, England. Over the years, the company grew through various acquisitions, including Maryland Cookies and Wagon Wheels.

In 2000, Burton Foods merged with Horizon Biscuits to become one of the largest biscuit manufacturers in the UK. The company was later acquired by private equity firm Duke Street Capital in 2007 and went through several ownership changes over the years.

In 2013, Burton Foods changed its name to Burton's Biscuit Company and became a standalone business after splitting from its parent company, Canadian firm Maple Leaf Foods. Today, Burton's Biscuit Company produces some of the UK's most popular biscuit brands, including Jammie Dodgers, Wagon Wheels, and Maryland Cookies.
